This is a bytch-made, 'in my feelings' rant thread, but I can't lie it does get to you after a while. You here it alot in talks about crime, unemployment and other local social issues that ignorant ass outsiders can't seem to comprehend actually happens in 'first world' cities.
I don't know if American cities get this as much as we get it in London, but the more and more I here it, I'm starting to see that alot of the people who repeat this bs don't even know what they're talking about, nor do they have enough experience of life in poorer countries or the deprived parts of rich societies. Bare talking about all the things that your average person in first world countries have, tryna shame them as if its still 1975 and people in poorer countries don't increasingly have access to these same things today. I remember some one dumbass talking about people here having access to supermarkets as a 'privilege' as if London is the only place in the world that you can by food locally
.
The 'immigrant achievement' shaming is one of the most annoying ones cos it should be obvious to anyone who thinks it through that people who come over to a place solely for its opportunities are going to be more motivated to make it on average than a low income kid who is born and raised there and only knows their environment around them. That is literally the whole point of them making the journey there which is circumstantially different from the locals.
And further on that note without tryna talk down on immigration, people nationwide and worldwide coming to 'privileged' cities like London talking about how they came here to take advantage the opportuities here, so 'why can't you spoiled locals? Ever thought that the fact that you're here working local jobs might have something to do with why its harder for locals. - I'm for immigration, I'm the child and grandchild of immigrants, but to the arrogant ones who wanna talk...
Point is before I go on forever is people that do this have an outdated view of what life is like in 'developing countries' and have poor understanding of what its like to be at the bottom of a rich society.
