Does anyone here engage in "cognitive/mental" fitness?

Growing up, I always loved logic tests. The greatest time of my adult life was recognizing it as a form of fitness. shyt had me waking up every morning for a match on the "Brain Wars" app (incredibly dope, "Elevate" too), I kept a Rubik's cube at my desk. Explored and Discovered new music daily, etc. Then the greatest moment happened :wow:

I'm tryna restore that feeling. It's carried on in odd spurts, but I'm curious to hear what kinda shyts yall that can relate do... I wanna buy a "Bop It" :dame: toy for example for to sharpen my reactions :dead:

I did 1000 word searches. On paper too.

The benefits were overwhelming, extremely positive.

Everything changed organically from my methods of searching, speed, accuracy, organization, pacing, sight acknowledgement, memory. I can now look at a list of 10 words one time then hit the puzzle and remember all 10 words without having to go back and cross off each word, one by one then recheck the list.

Then grab an encyclopedia or dictionary and look up words and terms so you 100% know what they are, obviously your knowledge and diction grows. Because there are different themes, genres, categories there was always something new to learn and with a lot of categories and such there are words you've seen and heard but aren't 100% sure of so it's a great opportunity to actually look them up.

I grabbed a word search book randomly one day and decided to do some puzzles just to pass time, didn't have any expectations or read any articles or watch any videos. It was like $3 for 1000 puzzles and I was like fukk it.

I still do a few puzzles everyday either on paper or electronically, but when I was going through the book I just set a timer for 30 mins and if I wanted to do more after just kept it moving.

As a matter of fact, Goldfish do NOT have a 3 second memory span

Studies have shown that goldfish can be trained to respond to certain stimuli and can recall this training even after a significant amount of time has passed. They are capable of learning and remembering complex behaviors.

Our family game growing up was Scrabble. I notice my 84 year old grandma is cognitively sharp and she reads the Bible and does crossword puzzles ever since I've known her. Now they got her using the damn iPad :mjlol:

I modify video games (have been doing so since about 2005), so 90% of the time im working on various audio formats, model formats, etc.

this includes reverse engineering, co-ordinate plotting, some scripting, and so on.

if that doesn't count as a logic exercise, then I dont know what does. :manny:

for example, the audio in this game uses .SNGW format, which is an encrypted variant of ogg vorbis. the audio is also sped up internally by about 33% during playback.

it was a pain in the ass to figure out, but thanks to the effort and the tutorial I posted online, now others can easily replace the music/audio in this game.

:blessed:
