We had this debate

My stance was that if a black person wasn't raised on hip hop, raised in a white community and can't relate to the stuff hip hop was founded on, but starts rapping, then he is considered an outsider trying to rap just like a cac is

Other ppl said that being black automatically makes him a part of hip hop

What do you think

No hip hop isnt automaticslly your culture

BUT...hip hop is such a global force now it is a bit odd if you lack exposure to it

no, we had this debate in philosophy class once and came to an easy conclusion

The answer is: No.

Hip-hop/Rap is a Sub-culture not a Culture, an American Sub-Culture at that. so off the cuff, it doesn't apply to black people internationally.

Especially because you dont pass down or inherent subcultures.
