Does being there for your child's birth have any effect on how much you love them?

like do you think that the reason so many people can walk away from their children has to do with whether or not they were there for the birth of the child?

Good question....I was there for all of mine:blessed:but I wonder how would I feel if I wasn't
I was there for my son, and I couldn't even imagine a world without him anymore.

Makes me wonder what the statistics are on deadbeats that WERE there for the birth of the children, in comparison to those who weren't. How much more likely are you to walk away if you weren't there at that moment?

Says a lot (or maybe very little) about a man who isn't there for the birth of his child. Him not being there for that pretty much says what type of "father" he'll be to the child.

No, because some people don't have that choice for whatever reasons. Whether it's separation of family (military, divorce, or immigration issues), I've seen some fathers just grow an even closer bond to their children without witnessing their birth. It's just a love that should be so strong you'd never want to walk away at all. Things happen, but if you love that child you will make every effort to be there.

You're probably right. It's just a thought that came to my mind. It Probably doesn't even matter.

Depends on why he wasn't there.
I was up in the mix with the birth of both of my children. Of course during the whole birthing process I wished I was any where but there :sadcam:
But I had to sack up and ride for my wife and my babies.

It's an indescribable feeling seeing that wild ass unwashed baby fresh out of the womb. It's like witnessing an alien lifeform.

I agree with you. I'm in here wondering how people come to these random conclusions.
If you're a deadbeat or morally undesirable being there or not being there for the birth most likely won't change anything.
Personally I wasn't able to be there but have full custody of my child.

It doesn't matter at all, not all fathers are the same. Some are fathers by blood and conception, but not by actual behavior and actions. They can live with not knowing their kid at all and it's disgusting to me.
Same.'The day my son was born, I felt it in my chest.

I knew my life was changing and that it would never be the same. In a good way. I guess it's one thing to be unable to support financially. That happens.

But to the ones who just don't care about their kids at all? It's a weird thing to me.
Even more weird now.
