-In church they taught us being born into sin meant you were born with the capacity to commit & inheriting sin meant one day you would come into sin like you come into an inheritance. Children were pure because despite having been born into it they haven't committed it & despite having an inheritance they haven't cashed it in yet. Basically Christ won't allow them to be punished for things they would've done before they actually have the option to use their free will to do it. I'm paraphrasing.

God hate our sins but he still strongly desire for us to turn away from them and repent.

Makes sense. Yeah no churches are teaching the dead babies are going to hell stuff. Its funny because you would just be like "it would've been better if i just died at birth so i can ensure i go to heaven" but then that leads to if the purpose of living is to get to heaven then why live? Then where there are cracks to fill different denominations have different answers. It's funny because OPs question is answered in every Christian denomination the same way. Dude doesnt understand his new religion and the first response telling him to read his Bible was right. It's literally answered in Genesis and expounded the later books of the bible.
