Does growing up in a big city make one less prepared in life?

I don't mean necessarily that one would grow up "soft", but I mean less prepared in general. Maybe living in a big city like NYC provides one with a lot of conveniences, thus making one comfortable. Perhaps if people grow up suburban or rural they may have more overall skills (and survival skills) for if, and when, shyt goes down and society crumbles.

Facts. This is why my dad used to make us do stuff (like kill/prepare/eat our own food, build shelter, plant vegetables) even tho it was never needed.

And he was born on a farm so that probably had something to do with it.

Thus why we see New Yorkers have difficulty adapting elsewhere. Those that can are highly successful because of their social skills but those that are way too comfortable in their system struggle outside of NY.

I've only ever lived in big cities, 2-10 million people.

I have ZERO wilderness survival skills.

I went camping once in my life, got there at noon and was on the train back home by 6pm.
Then I went tree planting in Northern Ontario at the end of freshman year. My contract was for 2 months. I lasted a grand total of 5 days, and retreated back to condo livin'.

The bugs, the dirt, the wild animals. I was scared, and dirty, and cold, and so very sad. I'm not cut out for that shyt.

I am however very street smart, and it's something I take pride in. I've never been in an urban center I can't navigate. I can get what I need, to where I need, meet who I need, and stay safe.

If I had to guess, between people who live in cities, rural areas, and the suburbs... SUBURBANITES ARE 100% THE MOST WEAK.

Guess u never heard the phrase, "If u can make it in NY, u can make it anywhere." ...in an apocalyptic scenario u maybe correct..but that scenario works both ways nd we live in the present. Most ppl from rural areas cant make it in the city now..nd as homie above stated...nggas come from the city n lock small town usa down:stopitslime:

I live in la, but ive been fascinated with nature all my life. My uncle's used to go camping all the time as a kid. When my grandparents retired to oregon, my cousins and I would spend all day in the woods up there, and then I was in the ffa in high school and learned animal husbandry and horticulture skills. I'm not the common city dude, but its possible.

How many ppl living in rural areas are really hunting and doing all that survival shyt tho?

In current society living in a big city makes you way more prepared. Small town inhabitants haven't seen shyt nor experienced much.
