I just got into watching highschool basketball this year. Is the AAU basketball route a good route? Like, is AAU good at showing the fundamentals of these ball players? Man, I watched the 2015 McDonald's All American game and it was good :whoo: Ben Simmons i gonna be that next big guy imo who's gonna make it to the NBA. I know he committed to LSU. He may even be the Lebron of this decade. That's how they are hyping him at least in my eyes. Cheick Diallo is great too and is a five star recruit. I'm still learning the other players names though. Because I just used to watch the NBA sometimes. Over the past year I became a HUGE basketball fan. Like, I'm starting to follow the semi pro, college, and highschool scene. Do you think some of these highschoolers after two years of college could do well in the NBA or should they go to the NBA D-League/overseas first?

Just wanna know from the peeps who's been watching longer than me.

Nah because the competition level isnt amazing

Its like dominating 2k15 on rookie and then jumping to hall of fame against a guy thats knows how to play. Basketball iq and fundamentals always wins. Being insanely athletic is usually what these kids get by on but hnless u have coaches teaching u pure fundamentals u will take at least 2-4 years to show who u really are.

Amare Stoudemire for example...had been playing organized basketballl for like 2 years and said after his second season in new york he never had a cosch teach him how tp play proper defense. So from high school till striaght to the nba and 9 seasons later he hadnt learn how to be a effective defensive player snd got by off athletcism. Injuries have derailed him mainly.

I feel like if a guy also gets drafted to a team with no structure it hindees. Greg monroe has had 5-6 coaches in 4 years in the league...

Nah. The amount of comp in high school pales in comparison to college, which pales in comparison to the pros.

breh you haven't figured it out...It's all about being at the right place at the right time and who you know. I'll give an example with a 2 players I like. You really think Tyler Ennis would have been the #4 PG in the nation if he didn't play for the AAU Team CIA Bounce :francis: If you don't know what CIA Bounce is, well that's the same AAU team Andrew Wiggins plays for. That's how you get exposure. That's why so many NBA players hate AAU(see kobe, chuck comments). These rankings don't mean shyt! They usually just put the most athletic guy that they know as the #1 recruit and the rest follow. Why do you think they miss so much with these 5 star guys and guys like Damian Lillard, Tyler Harvey, Stephen Curry go unnoticed.

Another example would be high schools. You ever wondered why a school like Montverde Academy always had highly ranked players? You think there's something in the water out there, or they putting in more work than the Shooting Guard in Vermont? That answer is no.
You don't think that Shooting Guard in Vermont is doing 6am workouts just like they are? They just have more exposure. Just look at a guy like Kasey Hill, You really think he would have been the #2 PG if he was at Vermont or he got it because he was at Montverde. Now look at Kasey Hill. Suppose to be a one and done and is struggling at Florida and is going to come back again for a 3rd year. You got damn near 80% of the nation shooting better than him.

The list goes on and on. I could just pick apart each ranking like its nothing. That's why I love College BBall. All that 5 star bullshyt goes right out the window. The nikka on the other team tryna make it to the NBA just as hard as you are. This is why 2 seeds like Duke will get wacked by 15 seeds Lehigh. But Duke will have Austin Rivers the #1 player 5 Star in the entire nation and Lehigh will have CJ Mccollum the unranked 0 star pg from little ole canton, ohio.

pretty sure Amare couldn't reliably make a left-handed layup his rookie year either

Nah

But one year of college doesn't either

Honestly, what did one year show us about John Wall, AD, Rose, Melo, etc. that most people didn't already know?

After one year they're basically the same player they were in high school :yeshrug:

So if you go by that... Yeah.
