I just think they’re different people and Jay was gonna be criticized no matter what. If Cole flamed out people would say Jay didn’t support him enough (remember all the old Coli convos about there being no pictures of them together lol). Yet Cole became a star and people still say Jay didn’t handle things well.
I also think a lot of people expected Cole to be more flamboyant like Jay and instead they got a guy rapping about losing his virginity and letting Nas down. Drake was more like Hov than Cole for awhile, in terms of the slick shyt. Before the ghostwriting killed that.

He didn't like how j cole wanted to be an independent woman. that shyt didn't sit well with him low key on some.. "well damn you don't want my help? alright fukk it then..." type shyt. it was cool but just on the low. meanwhile Drake wearing Rocawear at the dinner party talking about how much he loved Annie.
