Crispness
I completely agree, those uptempo NJS tracks on the 2 first albums are instant skips. By the time The Show, The Afterparty, The Hotel dropped in 1995 NJS was no longer a thing and they found the perfect balance of slow jams with mid tempo grooves like "Bring On Da Funk" and "Get On Up". That album is a classic to me with no skipped tracks (except all those damn interludes and skits).

Yes.
There is...an understanding...that the first two albums are “classics”.

Albums can be “classics” without being “masterpieces”.
The third is the best album from top-to-bottom imo, though it somehow does not have
the classic status the first two have.

The interludes and skits ruined it for me and love you 4 life is the only GREAT song on there to me

Gotta go the playlist route with this album, I start with S-More and end with Love u 4 Live, skip every skit outside of DJ Don Jeremy into Freek’n You :ohlawd:
Got some :steviej:memories courtesy of that track

every one of the 1st 3 albums is great in its own way, each one was getting better but there was so many skits on the 3rd album like between every song, that really threw off the flow. i get it was a concept album but it was a lot. the harmonies and song writing on all 3 albums are amazing. the 2nd and 3rd album you can see the signs of timbaland helping a lot though, probably wasn't getting all his credits too. i love devante production, but from timbaland book, you can see missy and timbo was going through it with him.

the 1st album did go new jack swing heavy on the 2nd half of it, when the first part had a lot of ballads. but on each album there was uptempo stuff at certain points of it. the 4th album wasn't up to the level of the first 3. i would like to see them live though, might have to check for dates if they got shows going on.

i have tried to get away from saying whats classic or not cause nobody really got true set standards of what is classic or not. like can every song be listened to or have to be a 10/10 cause on great albums not every song is for everyone. but these first 3 are timeless to me and i can rock those constantly.

No, I hated that they always tried to put uptempo shyt on their albums like somebody wanted to hear that from them.

A side of forever my lady. there is absolutely no reason for them to delve into up tempo new jack swing, but devante needed a creative outlet. Diary of a mad band was a better flowing album, my heart belongs 2 u being thier best song, but the singles from forever my lady were so much better.
alone is the best song on diary of a mad band.. thats when u know it was the death row era
