Does no one realize how great a career Vince Carter had as a 3 point shooter?

Every time I tell people that Vince Carter is #6 on the list for most made 3 point shots in NBA history, everyone is always stunned because they think of his athleticism and his highlight reel dunks.

But 1ith 1,898 3s, and only Kidd, Pierce, Terry, Miller, and Allen above him, I think it's safe to say he's incredibly underrated as a shooter.

Maybe not to NBA heads, but definitely among casual fans this always seems to shock people.

I think it's incredible how he changed his game to survive. Honestly most wouldn't have expected him to last this long, and for good reason, considering his game was so reliant on athleticism early on.

Damn. I'm a pretty big Vince Carter fan and I can see it over Lebron, Wade, and T-Mac, but I'm surprised that he's shot better than Pierce and Kobe the past 7/8 years.
:stopitslime: You're shocked he shot better than Kobe? Most missed shots ever? I'm not hating on Kobe but he's pretty inefficient :troll:

vince is a better 3pt shooter then his contemporaries and no one talks about it.

pierce (very close)

lebron

Well Kobe was hardly ever given any space for most of his career to shoot threes at an efficient rate. He also has really stupid shot selection from beyond the arc and always had. Not to say Vince wasn't better, it's just context is always important when looking at shot efficiency.

And to be fair to Kobe, he's better at every area over Vince except 3pt% and within 3 feet. Kind of amazing people don't realize that the best part of Kobe's game was always the mid-range.

If you take a ton, you're bound to make some :yeshrug:

Kidd is also top 5, which is a joke considering he never really had any offensive game. Dude would literally dribble to the basket, get scared to lay it up even if wide open, and pass it to a teammate 18 feet away. Don't even get me started on his actual jumper/mid-range game.

Vince been relegated to spot up shooter duties for years now. It's all he can really do at this point. He can't post. He can't iso. You don't want him setting or rolling off picks. It was frustrating watching him on the Mavs cause all he would do is jack up 3s all day.

Combine the fact that he was a volume scorer earlier in his career when he was an elite player to the last few years where he's literally been a statue on offense hanging out at the 3pt line, and it's not that surprising.

Vinsanity forever my dude but I can't believe he will actually be playing at 40 years old by next season. Seemed like such a long shot that he would go this far. Crazy

Hes been ass for about the last 5 years tho....
