Some new previews/impression came out today for Forza Horizon and Sunset Overdrive. All of them are VERY positive.

Last night after several days of Forza Horizon 2 addiction I finally completed the main single-player campaign, or so I thought. In an effort to avoid spoilers, let’s just say early on there’s a very clear objective presented to you which requires a considerable amount of time to achieve. It took me about 12 hours to reach that milestone (8 hours driving, 4~ hours on other tasks like buying cars, taking photos, and editing liveries). Along the way I learned of how significant the game’s boasted 700+ events really is, as well as how much time has gone into the side content. Combine that with the fact that there’s actually a second finale, maybe even more beyond that, and you have yourself the most content-rich racer of all-time.

I played for two hours and was not bored for one single second. I cannot say if this extremeness of fun is sustainable for longer periods, but as a mission-by-mission fantasy world, the early game is varied and pleasing.

I found myself gallivanting around town, firing off silly Saints Row-style guns at chasing monstrosities and I found myself holed up in tight areas, defending a glowing Important Thing against enemy capture. There is always the potential for such things to grow tiring after a while, and it is to be hoped that later missions continue to offer variety and diversion.

Having just played some of the ponderously scripted Destiny, I'm pleased to report that characters, dialog and narrative are all gloriously inane and funny. I created a protagonist who I wanted to be, and spent a happy time interacting with foolish characters who I was delighted to meet.

While we only had a short while with the game, the world seems to be enormous. There are several factions to contend with, four rather large areas, phone booths that connect us to other players for cooperative play (complete with rewards that carry from multiplayer to singleplayer), weapon combining a-la Dead Rising 3, over 50 challenges, 40 story-building smartphones to find, and much more.

Before long I glanced at my phone (because who wears a watch anymore?) and noticed that several hours had evaporated into thin air already. Open world games aren’t exactly new, but somehow Insomniac Games has made them fresh again. Their comedic stylings, and the combination of quite a few awesome gameplay mechanics should make for an awesome sandbox to explore.

Sunset Overdrive feels like that amazing Dreamcast game people hope and pray for given that it moves incredibly fast, looks gorgeous, and offers bouncy mechanics that end up sending satisfying loops back to the player whether they’re actively pursuing an objective or not.

So with a year marred by delays and disappointments. Could we have two surprise GOTY contenders? :lupe:

and as an added bonus a Kinect game was released and its not horrible http://www.metacritic.com/game/xbox-one/d4-dark-dreams-dont-die :banderas:

IDK, how often do racers actually contend for GOTY??

No doubt FH2 is gonna be piff rocks. Racers never get that just due to contend though.

Always said Sunset Overdrive looked interesting. I'm anxious to see the final product. Hopefully they've done something about the framerate.

I don't think so. The game is out in almost 3 weeks.

If you're a PSN+ member you get a $10 discount but even at that price, it is too much for that game.
yeah I saw that I'm not paying $50 for new franchise without a demo especially wit Forza dropping next week.I'll wait for reviews on that one
