Before covid the office used to have a monthly birthday day. Where they gave out cake/cookies or cupcakes to celebrate everyone that had a birthday that month.

Most of my office are set up in work pods. So those groups do their own birthday celebrations. Where they bring in food or whatever.

yea we use to do the monthly thing before our boss changed it...white people love the festivities man, they will hold a birthday celebration and then fire you the next day thats why when i come to work i make sure to put my Carolton on before i step through them doors...gotta play the game

I'm the boss in my office. but i get annoyed by all the birthdays and holidays. Told everyone i'm a jehovas witness and that celebrating holidays is against my religion. So they all leave me alone.
My past experience taught me not to get too close to your employees. You share too much in their highs, and they'll start demanding you share in their lows.
Had a girl file a complaint against me with the CEO early on because she felt like i didn't show enough empathy when her dog died. She was right, i actually don't give af about a dead pet that i never met, and don't care for people crying and making a scene about it at work. But i didn't verbalize this or anything, just went about my day.
I understood after that i need to make more of a effort to let people know we aren't friends just because i hired you.
