Does your voice change when you talk on the phone (I sound like Trevor from Fresh Prince)

Now, if you ask the kids at the school I work at, I talk "too hood". But on the phone, it's the direct opposite. Never realized that until today. I sound like Trevor from the Fresh Prince.

Comcast rep. came to my crib today b/c I just moved to a new place. When I talked to the installer, I just assumed he was white. Because the proper way he talking. When he showed up at the crib, it was a brotha. We both talked rego after that. I don't put people down for talking "proper". But at the same time, my phone voice just sounds way too phony. Not saying I'm going to extreme and talk "hood". But at the same time, it has to be a balance. I hate my phone voice.

If I'm at home I have the "innocent preacher's daughter voice" - "may I know who is speaking?" "Yes, school is going very well by god's grace" ()

But if it's with my friends I'm borderline Toronto slang

Depends, it can get softer. I never know how quiet I am until people say they can't hear me. When I first start talking it is definitely softer.

I have been told in regular convo I sound more aggressive I guess it's when I get comfortable. Vernacular never changes I don't think.
