Illmatic has lyrics and flow I guess that are better but doggystyle as a whole is better

And I'm not saying I would disagree if anyone said illmatic is better either

Both are probably top 10 hip hop albums ever produced but the fact of the matter is Doggystyle released seminal songs that became staples in 90s pop culture/black culture. Snoop was the 1st crossover gangsta rapper, the 1st week #s it did, the quality of the album on the premier Gangsta Rap Label

Doggystyle was light years above illmatic in impact hood to hood

Bullshyt!! Neither are better than Enter the 36 or Cuban Link. Doggy style isn’t better than the Chronic or Nation of Millions. Then we have Long live the Kane, which basically ruined Kane’s career because he could never replicate anything close to it again. And many more. But I love these 2 albums.

Melle Mel is an all time great. You can't listen to 80s hip hop post Rakim, 90s, or 2000 to present and THEN listen to Melle Mel. That's not fair, because they all came after him. To really appreciate Melle Mel's greatness, you'd have to listen to all of the rappers in HIS ERA, then listen to him to see how much he was ahead of the competition and along with Caz were the best MC's of their era. The same applies to the NBA. Elgin Baylor was doing the acrobatic reverse layups prior to Dr J and Skywalker. Baylor led his team to the finals as a ROOKIE and at one point was in the Army part time while playing in the NBA and still averaging almost 40 pt and 20 rebounds for the season. hahaha. Dr J and Skywalker were influenced by Baylor and Jordan was influenced by Dr J and Skywalker. Melle Mel is probably the Elgin Baylor of hip hop. learn your history young man. You will benefit greatly form it.
