Y'all must be Google plants.
Google might be the single most powerful corporation (their parent company is really but semantics..) in the history of the world and for years now has been way beyond simply a 'search engine'. And it has shown no signs of being able to handle civic responsibility.

Nobody is forcing anyone to use any of the services that Google and their parent corporation, Alphabet offer (Search, phone, email, etc.). People choose to use them out of convenience/ease of use/because everyone else is doing it/they're too lazy to look into alternatives.
