my nikkaYou, sir...Damn, i was just gonna make a thread about how dumb that guy is and how if MS had someone competent in charge the XB1 wouldnt be in the shape its in now.
1. MS should have been scooped up Bioware, way before EA even thought about it. Thats the studio that made people even think about getting the OG Xbox with KOTOR and Jade Empire then followed it up with Mass Effect on the 360. They coulda had the ME and Dragon Age series exclusive to MS consoles. That alone would have moved XB1s, add in a Baulders Gate sequel and you have system selling exclusives with just one studio.
2. MS should have given Bungie whatever they wanted to stay under their wing, or at the least not turned down their first refusal rights to Destiny. At this point Destiny is damn near being seen as a PS4 exclusive. I still dont understand the thought process behind that decision.
3. Shouldnt have bundled Kinect. Take that hundred dollars and put it into a better CPU/GPU/RAM for the console. I dont know if the people in charge were just delusional about where the Xbox stood in the videogame hierarchy, but clearly they were wrong. There are two reasons people have picked MS consoles over their competitors, the OS and Live are more robust than the competitors offerings and because games ran/looked better on their consoles. Live and the OS is still better than PSN (my opinion) but the gap is close enough where many people dont really care but the PS4 is now quite a bit more powerful than the XB1. Thats a huge problem when your console is also more expensive and bundles something that most early adopters dont really want. Now the 360 gamers who mostly played 3rd party games (most people) have little reason to not jump over to the PS4.
4. Ive already detailed the problem with going online only in the console market with multiple competitors so im not gonna rehash that here.
They could have easily had a console just as powerful as the PS4 with a Gears, Halo, Mass Effect, Destiny, Dragon Age lineup of exclusives to throw out in any year. That wouldnt have made much of a difference worldwide but in the US it would.
