The Philadelphia Eagles have been in existence since 1933, and they have retired just eight players' numbers in their history. Donovan McNabb will become the ninth during a ceremony on Sept. 19.

Take a look at the best photos of Donovan McNabb.

The announcement was made Monday by Eagles owner Jeffrey Lurie, as McNabb officially announced his retirement. McNabb thanked his former teammates and got emotional while talking about former coach Andy Reid.

"Eleven great years," McNabb said. "We made history, big fella."

McNabb also addressed his often-rocky relationship with the fans of Philadelphia, comparing it to a marriage. He reiterated his apology to the fans for not winning a title but said he doesn't think about them booing him at the NFL draft.

"Let's put the booing to rest," McNabb said. "That was the beginning of the era, and this is the end. I don't talk about the booing until you guys ask."

Steve Van Buren, Brian Dawkins, Jerome Brown, Reggie White, Al Wistert, Pete Retzlaff and Tom Brookshire also have their number retired by the Eagles.

He's the Eagles leading QB in everything, and lead them to like 5 straight conference title games.

How many QB's in HISTORY can say that? Then compare his teams to the teams Superbowl champions had?
Or Jim Kelly and the buffalo bills. Eagles overachieved and he alone... with a little help here and there is why
Give Black Excellence his due, even if he worked in the house from time to time :birdman:
That has nothing to do with his play on the field...

Randall was a great individual performer but he didn't do anything important for us. McNabb could make scrubs look like stars. McNabb is the best QB in the history in the franchise and arguably the most important player overall for the franchise.
