Don't get me wrong, I like beef for the fukkery...but can we admit its inherently ridiculous?

They might as well have dance-offs :mjlol:

I mean...it SOUNDS hard...

but you gotta remember
...these dudes are writing verses
...editing verses...
recording...
and RE-recording verses...
THEN recording adlibs and dubs...
.then playing it for approval...
mixing...
...mastering...
finding the right sites to upload it to...
tweeting the link...

I mean...sure, the fukkery of another man being shytted on in such a complete audio form IS pretty entertaining...the notion of what it takes to get to this point is just pretty...odd.

I mean, its like the epitome of showing people who take rap WAY too seriously :heh:

I KNOW!!! I only wish rappers took this shyt less serious. Guys like French, Wacka and Keef are too lyrical for me.

killaaaaaaaaaaaa :blessed:

Breh you did not make the message / point you are trying to get across clear AT ALL..... Like what are you trying to say? These grown men with "problems" who don't know each other are going to do all this just for show? Be clear breh, nikkas can't read your mind.

I understand what you're saying. I often think about that. But that's just the sign of the times.

The origins of MCing came from the dozens, which is essentially coming up with the funniest joke that gets your opponent mad and gets the best reaction out of the crowd. shyttin on nikkas with words is what we do...It's a black thing. :yeshrug:

But these studio thug nikkas do kill me though. Like I can imagine them spending 8 hrs working on adlibs then askin they homies like "yo...yo that shyt sound tuff right?" :myman:

Wasnt this u @Napoleon

Again, one of those "defining" elements isn't one.

Battling is not crucial to hip hop. It never was.

When it comes to the MUSIC industry, beef is a regression and a result of what happens in broken communities.

If you want to battle, take that shyt to your abandoned warehouse and charge people to walk in and listen to 3 rounds of that shyt.

I'm a fan of MUSIC...all that beef shyt is for you under-entertained nikkas.

rap beefs on records are cornier than any substition of an actual fight.

Its worse than battle rap cause at least theres a forum, rules, and expectations...

This is just pre-packaged fukkery :heh:

I guess I understand what you saying....

But making a "rap diss" is basically a way to let your feelings out, expose, or shyt on someone to "the world"

Like if someone has a problem with another poster on this board, they'll make a "thread" shytting on them and clowning them, for the public to see and react so they can defame the other person... Same thing when a nikka makes a diss song.

I mean, the most obvious example is Nas with Ether: If Nas and Jay had a "dance competition", the loser wouldn't be on the radio damn near crying the next day.

Rap disses (good ones anyway) is about causing someone else emotional hurt / pain / embarassment...

In other cases, it's about building a buzz (see 1,000 50 cent examples)...

In other cases, it's about destroying a company (see the Gunot campaign)

ANd in rare cases, it's about venting your frustrations because you have no other means of recourse (see the nikka 50 diss to Diddy.... That nikka basically made that diss laying on a psychiatrist chair [listen to the end where he talkin]... He did that shyt to vent and get some shyt off his chest... Instead of going and putting hands on diddy like he should have, but, I'm not gonna even go there)...

Hit Em Up was also a real vent record.

My point is: As silly as it seems (grown men going and doing all this work to diss a nikka), there's actually plenty of good motivations behind it.
