I think that whole Bad Boy sound period was getting played out by 99, maybe that's why he didn't move as many units as Harlem World. Diddy dropped an album that year too he didn't have No Way Out's success.
The taste in hip-hop shifted in '98. Jay & X started to hit with that street shyt and really made it hard for Puff's shtick when it came time for him to drop in '99. I'm not saying Ma$e shyt wouldn't have gotten stale eventually...I'm just saying that specific "double up" album was hurt by lack of promotion.

If my memory serves me correctly Puffs presence on the album and video was non existent. Like I said Ma$e did that source interview a couple months b4 the album and he was basically saying he's done with rap.

shyt I got Double Up as a gift and I can't tell u how many people came to my crib and saw the shyt in my CD collection and had no idea that shyt had even dropped. Puff threw that shyt out there as a quick cash grab knowing that Ma$e wasn't gonna be around to promote it.

A lot of him leaving had to do with him getting extorted, some of it was him wanting to leave Puff. Which is why Ma$e took his all out records to So So Def. Harlem World the group had nothing to do with Bad Boy. Puff didn't want to keep throwing money at a dude who was trying to leave his record label as well as retiring.
