Ellijay, Georgia (CNN) -- Georgia Gov. Nathan Deal signed a wide-ranging gun bill into law Wednesday that has critics howling and proponents applauding.

House Bill 60, or the Safe Carry Protection Act of 2014 -- which opponents have nicknamed the "guns everywhere bill" -- specifies where Georgia residents can carry weapons. Included are provisions for taking guns into some bars, churches, school zones, government buildings and certain parts of airports.

GeorgiaCarry, which lobbied for the bill, calls it "meaningful pro-gun legislation," despite it being watered down from the group's perspective. Still, the group has lauded the legislation, which will go into effect July 1. Americans for Responsible Solutions opposed the bill, calling it "extremism in action."

Maybe if some of these so-called "leaders" were quick to sign bills that could help people have better access to economic mobility and greater justice, things would be much better here in America.

I don't know, breh. We've gotten to a point where another mass shooting/massacre is :manny:. I don't think people should be allowed to take guns in to spots where alchohol is served but as long as there are SUFFICIENT mental/criminal history checks...... :patrice:

When I moved to Kennesaw(suburb of Atlanta) as a kid, dudes would tell me that Kennesaw once had a gun law where it was unlawful not to have a gun. And really, it never came off the books so its still in effect. :heh:

I had friends whose parents had arsenals in their basements. I remember guys in college hiding rifles in the space above the ceiling in the closets. It's the south. I'm used to it. People are going to have guns one way or another.

Me personally, I don't have any use for them and don't see why people feel like they are in danger 24/7. But its in the Constitiutiion and people just like them so whatever.

I heard about this earlier, are they on crack? :what: nokemet

Why would it be a good idea to let people legally bring guns into places where alcohol and high emotions are involved? Who needs a gun at church, you need to keep an unruly usher is check?
