Sweetheart swindler arrested by BSO deputies
BSO: Trevor Thornton, 33, cons women throughout nation
COOPER CITY, Fla. -
A man from South Carolina, who deputies describe as a "criminal casanova," is facing charges after allegedly stealing thousands of dollars from his latest girlfriend.
According to detectives, Charmaine Pierrelouis, who lives in Cooper City, had been dating Trevor Thornton, 33, for about two weeks when she discovered he had stolen a safe from her bedroom closet, which contained $14,000 in cash.
Pierrelouis told detectives she met Thornton on the dating site plentyoffish.com and they had recently taken a weekend vacation together in Puerto Rico. She said a relative there warned her that she had seen Thornton's mugshot online and believed he may be a con artist.
When Pierrelouis returned home she discovered the safe missing.
"He's crazy," Pierrelouie told Local 10 News reporter Andrew Perez. "He's a looney, he's a deceiver. I mean, you name it. He has a lot of issues."
Thornton was taken into custody on Wednesday.
Detectives say Thornton has a lengthy criminal history of fraud and theft nationwide, and some women have even posted YouTube videos warning other women about Thornton.

Some of the previous alleged victims describe Thornton as a serial con artist with multiple wives, fiancees, girlfriends and children. They say he owes a fortune in child support, but tells his victims he is a wealthy man, a pilot or a special agent.
Pierrelouie told Local 10 News that Thornton seemed, "attractive, charming and very smart," when she first met him. She described him as being, "everything a woman could dream of," and said he proposed to her after they had dated for only a week.
Detectives say some of the victims include women in Georgia, South Carolina, Virginia and California.
Thornton has served time in Florida state prison from 2003 to 2006 for similar crimes committed in Hillsborough County.
Anyone who believes they may have been a victim of Thornton's is urged to call detectives at 954-435-2200.

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. (WSVN) -- An accused criminal Casanova was arrested by Broward Sheriff's Office detectives Wednesday.
Thirty-three-year-old Trevor Thornton is being held on a $2,500 bond for a grand theft charge after he stole $14,000 from his girlfriend's savings after dating her for two weeks. "He was trying to get all my information, my money and stuff," said Charlaine Pierre Louis. "That was his goal, so I'm thinking he's this great guy, and that's not what he was."
The con-artist, who gave women fake names, would pretend to be a successful, wealthy man on the Internet and would lure them into relationships to ultimately steal money from them. "[His] picture was just too beautiful," said Pierre Louis. "It was too perfect."
Pierre Louis then came across another red flag. "He wanted to propose. He asked for marriage after about a week."
A family member of Pierre-Louis' was suspicious of Thornton and went online to find troubling comments and posts about her seemingly perfect boyfriend. It turned out Thornton had left a trail of angry women throughout the country, conning women from Georgia, South Carolina, Virginia and California. Warnings can be seen online from women all over the country, warning others to stay away from him. One post read, "Beware of Trevor Thornton."
Another read: "Deceived. I ignored all the warning signs and red flags."
"This is what he's doing," said Pierre Louis. "He's a liar, he's a thief, he's robbing people."
Police were able to arrest Thornton in a sting with the help of Pierre-Louis, but they still believe he has more victims out there.
If you think you may be one of Thornton's victims, call Broward County Crime Stoppers at 954-493-TIPS. Remember, you can always remain anonymous, and you may be eligible for a reward.
