The television show, "A Different World," was iconic and one of the greatest shows of all-time. It led to a spike in the attendance of HBCUs, made millions for its producers and put black faces on television every Thursday night in an extremely positive light.

Since that time, we've seen a huge segment of television devolve into embarrassing and destructive reality TV segments, where ignorant ideas are being mass-marketed, mostly to black people. This has led to millions of Americans asking "What happened?"

This interview with Michael Imhotep from the African History Network lays out what's happened to black people over the last few decades, as well as the power of media in brainwashing black youth into pursuing harmful and destructive outcomes in their lives

It's amazing how much intelligent, positive pro-black shyt was on the forefront around the late 80s/early 90s in terms of pop culture.....and yet we're at the point where we are now.....

If you talk about the argument of 'the media' brainwashing black youth into getting involved in negative shyt, then you have to wonder why they didn't ALWAYS do that. This is the same media that allowed the Cosby Show and A Different World to become very successful shows. That once featured intelligence and important topics being discussed in popular black music/hip hop songs, that became chart-topping hits......while white rockers kept singing about the same old sex and drugs. I wonder at what point did ignorance among blacks sell better in TV shows and music......and why.....

I always wonder what the HELL happened to black TV.

We had: Cosby, different world, Martin, Fresh Prince, Living single, ect....

Shows with black successful families, or college students, or young professionals...

Now we got Love and Hip Hop :snoop:

My dude Arsenio can't even find an audience now... :why:

All that fantasy positive "goody too shoes" shyt is gone, even if they bring it back, it won't do well at all. We have all been poisoned by computers/internet, there is no turning back now.

Cable tv also destroyed the premise of the regular networks being great for the whole family. Most families don't watch regular tv together these days except it's a huge event like the superbowl or shyt like american idol.

We just got too many options right now, easy availability of porn and other crazy shyt has ruined everything, it's OVER people, stop beating a dead horse. :deadhorse:

It's over. That was the last death rattle before the pulse gave out.

Now "HBCU"'s aren't needed.

Working and living in predominantly black enclaves is seen as dumb.

We lost they won.
