Why y’all be asking questions about things that I hope y’all already know the answer to? Money. No HBCU is going to pay him whatever he was making at Harvard. That’s not a slight to HBCU’s. Just the reality that Harvard endowment/money is on a whole ‘nother level in general, which includes salaries for professors.

So we going to act like other prestigious universities that’s got the same type of endowment loot if not more? Dr West could have left a long time ago yet he chose to stay at a place that refused to give him tenure

There is no university NEAR Harvard in endowment. It’s by far the richest university on this planet. Yale is the second wealthiest school, and they have about 10 dollar billion lead on Yale. Yes, 10 billion dollars. Their overall endowment is about 40 billion. You’re not going to make the same money working at Stanford or what have you as you would at Harvard as a professor. He wanted the bread.
This surprises you? Most people’s sensibilities are fluid. Particularly, when you add money into the equation.
I get what you're saying about the money. I guarantee you Howard ain't paying what UNC would've paid Nikole Hannah-Jones, but sometimes money ain't everything. I value my self worth and dignity over money. Dr. West has written numerous books and commands top dollar on the speaking circuit. He's not hurting for money.
