UPDATE:
Rap legend Dr. Dre is the new owner of Tom Brady's former home.
The sale of the Brentwood, Calif., mansion for $40 million, which was first reported in May, became official Wednesday, according to the Los Angeles Times.
The New England Patriots quarterback and his wife, supermodel Gisele Bundchen, purchased the property for $11.75 million in 2008 and built the 18,298-square-foot home — which includes such amenities as a gym, a sauna, a pool and seven fireplaces — over the ensuing four years.
Dr. Dre reportedly purchasing the Brady/Bundchen estate for $50 million - Style - The Boston GlobeHip-hop artist and headphone mogul Dr. Dre appreciates the architecture of Patriots super quarterback Tom Brady and supermodel wife Gisele Bundchen’s mega-mansion in L.A., which is listed for $50 million. The furniture? Not so much.
According to TMZ, Brady is close to selling the 18,700-square-foot mansion to Dre. The house was offered fully furnished. Dre, whose real name is Andre Romelle Young, is buying the house but passing on the decor. The Brady/Bundchen compound is only slightly broken-in. They built from the ground-up after buying the land in 2008 and completed construction in five years.
What will Dre, who is worth a reported $550 million, according to Forbes, be getting for his dollar? Architectural Digest reported that the 3.6-acre property features an infinity pool, waterfall, and a professional home gym, of course. Mario Testino’s muse needs to stay in shape. The luxe home in the gated Brentwood Country Estates is eco-friendly and is comprised of two estates, which include eight bedrooms, a six-car garage a moat. No word if there are alligators or sharks residing in that moat.
In case you’re worried, the super couple will not be estate-less for long. Their next home in Brookline will include five bedrooms, four bathrooms, a library with a balcony, and a wine cellar, so the bubbly will be perfectly chilled when neighbor Bob Kraft stops by for a visit, perhaps?
