Dr. Dre Issues Apology To The Women He's Hurt

Earlier this week, MC/journalist Dee Barnes stood up and revealed that she had been abused by Dr. Dre during his days in N.W.A. after noticing the film, Straight Outta Compton, didn't touch on the subject at all. Since then, the rapper/producer's ex Michel'le and N.W.A-affiliate Tairrie B have also publicly acknowledged patterns of abuse from the '80s and '90s. Today, Dre issued a statement to the New York Times, apologizing to the women he's hurt in the past.

"Twenty-five years ago I was a young man drinking too much and in over my head with no real structure in my life. However, none of this is an excuse for what I did," he explained. "I’ve been married for 19 years and every day I’m working to be a better man for my family, seeking guidance along the way. I’m doing everything I can so I never resemble that man again."

"I apologize to the women I’ve hurt," he added. "I deeply regret what I did and know that it has forever impacted all of our lives."
:mjlol:
Apple, where Dre's been consulting since the acquisition of his company, Beats by Dre, also issued a public statement: “Dre has apologized for the mistakes he’s made in the past and he’s said that he’s not the same person that he was 25 years ago. We believe his sincerity and after working with him for a year and a half, we have every reason to believe that he has change

Dr Dre is 50 years old.

I would imagine a lot of people in middle age look back at what they did when they were in their 20s and regret some things.
What Dr. Dre did to Dee Barnes was horrific.

I'll take his apology at face value.
But let's not act like anybody gave a shyt about this before the Straight Outta Compton movie came out.

That Dee Barnes thing was sorted out decades ago. And I feel like a lot of this pressure on Dre is little more than a group of people expressing fake outrage at a black man whose movie is successful.

When Roman Polanski and Woody Allen release movies (some of which I enjoy), there isn't quite the same outrage over their past.
The people have gotten over it.
They can get over Dr. Dre, too.

I dont understand why ppl bring up the fact he was in his 20s when he was throwin haymakers at hoes wit no regards, as if being 20 is an acceptable age to be a woman beater :dead:

Like das jus a mistake of being young like doing drugs or sumthin :dahell:

I think wut rly rubs ppl the wrong way is that he never kinda sincerely owned up to it(as far as i kno) and made up for it and the issues was always kinda pushed to the side as far as his career is concerned.

And also when u consider that it completely fukked up Dee Barnes career and life its kinda hard not to hate him a lil bit for it. shyt, nikka shud at least give her a job at Apple now or sumthin.

Ppl do change tho and maybe we shud jus forgive and get over it, but I will admit I am kinda personally biased agaisnt men dat r violent agaisnt women for personal reasons.

The fukk? Which black women are you talking about? The black women who are on the front lines of every social issue regarding black men? Some of you lames need to just admit you hate black women, and stop projecting. You're only telling on yourselves.

LOL This motherfukker talking about blacklivesmatter. The only black woman that did not say sorry to a white police officer for killing her son was Samaria Rice. The other all forgave the white man for killing their sons; black women still talk about Jim Brown
