Dragon Quest VII and VIII Re-Releases May Be Coming to the West, According to Series Creator
Having been around for over several decades, the Dragon Quest series remains one of the most beloved and popular RPG series to come around worldwide, and with many of the series’ titles seeing re-releases on mobile and elsewhere, it seems that with a bit of hope, two more re-releases will be coming outside of the franchise’s home in Japan.
Following this past weekend’s Japan Expo 2015 in Paris, France, reports indicate that during a presentation by Dragon Quest series creator Yuji Horii it was revealed that the upcoming re-releases of Dragon Quest VII: Warriors of Eden and Dragon Quest VIII: Journey of the Cursed King will be released “in French,” indicating that the titles will be released in other territories outside of Japan, including other regions of Europe and the US.
Reportedly, the announcement by Horii was more of a slip-up than intended to be an official announcement: sources reporting on the news indicated that those close to Square Enix and even the translator attending the event were upset at the reveal. In this case, Horii may have let the cat out of the bag earlier than intended. The announcement of the game’s release in French also falls in line with the venue, given the Japan Expo 2015 took place in Paris.
