I hope its less annoying than dragon quest xi. I wanted to like that game so bad but I couldn't play a 20+ hour RPG with just ONE music track the whole game

This game is more or less an upscaled version of the 3DS game that had things I thought were great and things I didn't like so much. I actually don't like that they shortened the story in this version. The PS1 original was both cozy and epic in a lot of ways, it was the grind that was irritating. I did like the gameplay changes the new version made, (less grindy, visible enemies, etc) but the art style to me lost something in the translation to 3D. I will say this I am glad Square Enix is re-releasing these games to a new generation and it has clearly been successful for them.

OG DQVII is notoriously known for being too long.

I remeber it taking me like 2 hours before I had my first battle and around 10 before I unlocked the first job.

Square even spoke about it during the lead up to the 3DS release and admitted that most people who purchased the game back in the day never finished it due needing to collect all those shards to advance the game, pacing issues, and it being a 100+ hour game. That's a crazy length when most DQ games take 40-60 hours to beat.

This is actually one of the rare occasions when I don't mind a game either cutting content or moving things to optional side quests. :hubie:
