I disagree.

Rap is often called two different things: a "game" and a "business".

If it's a game, you're supposed to compete against other people in the same league. In some sports, competitions are scheduled in advance ... in others (like boxing), one competitor simply challenges the other and the competition is set up.

If it's a business, you're supposed to try and outdo competing entities, sometimes mentioning competitors by name and highlighting their shortcomings.

Rap is not a real thing. There is no need for legitimate beef for two artists to engage each other.

I don't really care what drake does. If he chooses not to partake in the direct competition of rap, that's fine with me (I don't buy his shyt anyway). But attempting to disparage the competitive nature of hip-hop is just dumb, and he should stop doing it.

If he wants to be a pop star, that's fine. If he wants to connect with street dudes, that's fine. But don't try to disregard decades of classic diss records by pretending the art form has to be connected to legitimate beef.
