It's the whole point OF this.
There's no way for Drake to come at Kendrick for defamation because it's protected art. So, you backdoor it by trying to come for him from a business standpoint. Only issue is, it's the exact playbook Drake's been using for decades, so it needs to be turned into an argument of nuance and exclusivity instead of even being able to just say 'this practice is abhorrent and shouldn't be used.'
Because he uses it.
So it has to be an attack on bots and other tools Drake has been using for most of a decade, but in a way where it 'wasn't allowed'.
Like his previous uses somehow were.

The fact that this has to be explained this way proves the hilarity of the situation. Drake isn't mad about bots or payola. He's mad about bots and payola being used against him.

Otherwise, this would be a class-action lawsuit. Round up everyone else who released during this period. Call it a financially disadvantageous position for all other artists due to creating lack of confidence in the streaming data. Self-enrichment by someone using bots to artificially increase their streams, their placements and thusly, their pay.

But he can't.
Because discovery would show he's also been party to it for years. The frontrunner of it.
Thing is, that same discovery would require UMG to basically provide evidence that most of the numbers the industry bases success on are arbitrary at best and easily manipulated at worst.

But he also can't... because no one fukks with him. Because this isn't about other artists.
