Looking at the current crop of rappers absolutely nobody. which is why if Drake pulls back for a few months, with no features etc, it will be interesting to see the landscape.

Kendrick is a great artist but he takes long ass breaks between albums. And isn't the type of artist that just jumps on someone's track.

He'll also have an issue in the future, he has to be careful who he allows on his features now.

If you open the door to rappers getting called abusers and paedophiles. The Twitter mob will be ready. So I don't expect to see someone like Kodak Black on his next album.

I have no idea why people are acting like Drake is irreplaceable. Vanilla Ice was the FIRST rapper to go Diamond. He was replaceable. MC Hammer had his own cartoon, comic book, commercials, sold out tours, etc. he was replaceable. Eminem sold a gajillion records and ushered in a new generation of white people consuming rap music. He was replaceable. EVERY huge artist across every genre in mainstream music is replaceable unless you become an ICON like Michael Jackson. And Drake ain’t no Michael Jackson.


Hip Hop will survive just fine when Drake falls off. He’ll be replaced and the cycle will continue. I mean think about it, what intangibles does Drake have that makes him so important to the “survival” of rap? There will always be someone that ghostwriters can cook for. Somebody that the labels can use to shark emerging artists styles. Somebody that can hop from trend to trend. Rap will be just fine without Drake.
