It's been tested in cars in Japan/China years ago. The difference is, the Japanese tend to play it safe with their suppliers in terms of features like that (i.e. is this going to be a problem component 10 years down the road and am I going to have to stock it and is it expensive?). The Chinese.. don't necessarily concern themselves with that.
This was something a tour guide mentioned when i was in Thailand, he wanted to grt a Chinese EV but mentioned a lot of people are concerned the company wont even be around long as it seems a ton of Chinese EV companies show up and vanish and you are stuck
