Both Texas and San Antonio have high rates of drunk driving according to separate studies.
Convicted drunk drivers who kill both parents of a child under 18 years old will now be required to pay child support under a bill signed into law by Gov. Greg Abbott earlier this month.

Under House Bill 393, the person convicted of Intoxication manslaughter of both a child's parents will have to make monthly payments to the child's legal guardians. The law doesn't apply in situations where an adult's parents are killed in a collision.

The amount of money owed will be determined by an array of factors, including the standard of living the child is accustomed to, their physical and emotional condition and the child's educational needs, among other expenses related to being a parent.

The law goes into effect on Sept. 1. People convicted under the statute will be required to start making payments no more than a year after they are released from prison.

Texas has consistently ranked among the worst states for drunk drivers, most recently coming in at No. 3,according to Forbes Advisor. San Antonio has also been ranked among the U.S. cities with the highest rate of DWIs,coming in at No. 4 in 2021.

If you really want to stop drunk driving accidents, just greatly expand public transportation and make it cheap, and good.

This is just going to lead to some a$$hole killing a child. It's not going to deter anyone from drunk driving. The key to stopping drunk driving is making other options affordable and desirable

With 1,162 drunk driving deaths in Texas last year alone, there's gonna be a ton of fukkery in the back log.

Nice. Once the sun goes down it gets kinda dangerous. First and only crash i witnessed i was on the way home around 2sumn and i noticed this pickup could barely stay in their lane so i hung back Kuz last time i tried to pass a mf driving like that i got sideswiped. After bout 30 seconds i watch this mf recenter themselves and then speed up directly into the back of a box truck.

Just about every time I'm out late driving, I'll see at least one person that can't drive straight and/or making questionable maneuvers. Never any police around. Let me do 80 down i10 like usual tho and i get blooped real fukkin quick:comeon:

All my opinion:

Step 1 would need to be destroying the national freeway/highway system as constructed
Step 2 would be funneling that money to high speed rail, busing and other non car/truck forms of transportation nation wide

But if you not down with step 1 you not bout expanding public transpo

30 years too late and another 20 years to be feasible. Texas public transit will be forever trash.

@Godless Liberal CEO

Some of us actually enjoy driving and/or owning personal vehicles.
:gucci:

In fact, the majority of America does. People loathe traffic, ridiculously long commutes, and unskilled/idiot drivers though (Myself included. I hate all three).
