Anyone have dual citizenship with US and another country?

Pros and cons?

My wife, kids and I can get dual citizenship through her birth country…

Will at least investigate the option cause shyt getting kinda spooky here with extreme political division, gun violence and shyt…Would be good to have a place to relocate to long term if necessary.

So yeah, anyone have any experience in this arena?

I have citizenship for the US,UK, and a Caribbean island.

Like someone mentioned no real downside.

I haven't lived "outside" the US, but I have gon for extended months overseas. I can pull up to the UK unannounced and stay as long as I want(I think most Americans can do this for 6 months).

With that said, if you can get dual citizenship then get it.


My US passport expired a few months back, and I used my UK passport to travel.

American, yes. The US expects you to report any earnings you make abroad and pay taxes on them.

Expats regularly ignore this or minimize their tax liabilities via the usual ways.
