I think was 7 or 8 when I saw that episode, that shyt was mad real. I gotta say that episode might be one of the top 10 most important shows in TV history. It was scary to me that an adult could do that and they handled it with the right amount of realness and grace. I watched with my mom and almost cried because I couldn't realize that adults would do some shyt like that to kids.

Also don't throw shade at my nikka Weasel, realest dude in Family Matters easy man, trying to teach that herb Eddie Winslow the game.

He was touched for real or had something bad happen in his childhood if I'm not mistaken....
Not saying you wrong, but I seriously doubt it
Or at least, doubt they knew about what you talking about at the time
Because if a "kid" let alone an adult goes thru a traumatic experience like molestation?
How fukked up would it be for a director to be like "You been molested? Great, we got a scene where you gotta live thru that again. Just channel the real emotion you still struggle with kid.... ACTION!!!"

that different strokes episode is classic :ohlawd:

Am I the only one who misses the consciousness in mainstream :to:

every sit-com back then had at least 1 episode where things got super serious. Usually it dealt with drugs, alcohol, gangs, or in this case molestation/rape.

I dont think any shows now days do any serious topics

The 8-4 and fiery moats
LOL I remember when Smart Guy did a lightweight version of that topic.....TJ and some other kid was hanging out with this perv who created video games. He created some virtual reality surfing game, and was tryna get them to get half-naked while testing the game for a more 'authentic experience'
:dead: I had completely forgot about that ep. Didn't that dude have em in their underwear riding surfboards and shyt?

And not on the same level of seriousness, but didn't they have one Sister Sister episode where this dude was working as some amateur photographer for models and tried to take pics of the sisters nude?

Them tyler perry show house of payne dealt with a ton of issues. I don't even watch it like that but I remember a pedo episode, aids episode, the chic was on crack. The problem is he did it to much on his shows. It was to much depressing stuff and not enough laughs

They do, its just that.. I have to assume you are older now and probably don't be watching those types of shows
And the main source for shows period for kids these days are on Disney and Nickelodeon, so its not gonna be as GANGSTA either.
But I've seen stuff over the last decade (I watch shows with my kids)

Another factor I just realized is since I'm older, those impactful type shows dont' impact me anymore
If anything, I'd probably find stuff corny to the point I might be ready to laugh at it
But my kids will be looking at it like :whoo:
And I'd of been the same way.. we all were, way back when :manny:
