'Dumb & Dumber To' Revived at Universal and Red Granite Pictures | FirstShowing.net
Just over a week ago, Warner Bros. and New Line Cinema decided not to move forward with Dumb & Dumber To, the sequel to the 1994 comedy starring Jim Carrey and Jeff Daniels. Despite having directors Bobby & Peter Farrelly ready to go with the two leading man reprising their roles, the studio only saw a "limited upside" if they made the film, despite the fact that the comedy would only cost about $30 million to make. Well, that studio's loss is now hopefully a gain for Universal Pictures and Red Granite Pictures who have just picked up the sequel which could go into production early this fall for a 2014 release.
The Farrelly Brothers updated their Twitter with the news, "IT'S OFFICIAL: Dumb and Dumber To is going into production with @RedGranitePics and @UniversalPics!!!" Following that news, it was Borys Kit from THR who tweeted, "Sources say Dumb & Dumber To could start shooting by early fall and be released next year, which would be the 20th [anniversary] of the original." Despite the fact that Warner Bros. and New Line passed on the project, we knew some other studio would see the light and pick up this sequel. Now hopefully the Farrellys and Jim Carrey and Jeff Daniels can deliver a solid sequel 20 years later.
