Over the years, mainstream media and pop culture created a stigma that looks down upon being intelligent. In today’s society “being cool” is actually the opposite of being intelligent, and essentially certain entertainers “dumb down” their intelligence for ratings and record sales. Dumb it Down exposes the entertainment industry for forcing prominent African American celebrities to tone down their intelligence in order to maintain relevant.

That trailer looks terrible. Like it'll be smart-dumb commentary and nostalgia-dikkriding.

I agree with the premise. I just think a doc should aim to be as 'fair' as it can. That MC Lyte screwed vocal thing at the end was just pathetic. Whose idea was that?!

All of yalls gimmicks are up brehs. The black community is moving on from this toxic hiphop culture. You can either join us (ASSUMING yall are actually black:mjpls:) or get left behind. Our collective eyes are opening. The INTENTIONAL MANIPULATION of hiphop culture has played a small role in the continued oppression of the black race. Media Propaganda is currently one of the most effective tools being used against us. And that includes the hiphop culture. If you're black and STILL defending this filth, you're part of the problem. If you're young then you get a pass. But if anybody here is of a mature age then you should'nt even WANT to defend this audio poison any longer. The shift is here fellaz. Its time to put the ignorance behind us and start anew. Its time for a resurgance in Black Love and Black Pride. A new mindstate is needed to attack our REAL enemy. :cape: for music that promotes our own genocide is ass backwards. Take my hand brehs. Lets leave the filth behind. Theyre killing us out here. Lets stop dancing and singing to music that glorifies us killing ourselves. peace.

It may not be perfect but its a sign that we are waking up to what has happened to OUR genre. Hiphop was once a tool to inspire and uplift. It now (by design) has been turned into a weapon being used against us. Let the trailer cook breh.

I didn't read your post. But don't you get tired of saying the same shyt over and over? :what:

:mindblown: just log off man. Stop trying to force your opinion on people :what: you are not gonna change anyone's mind. Especially since you're not gonna help any black people in real life and the fact that you're white acting like you're black :camby:

And you won't take me up on that ban bet proving your identity. So please stop tagging my name in threads

:mjlol: That was seriously pathetic.

Like, of all the things in 2015 to make a documentary on...you base it on a particular sub-genres of hip-hop.

I can not, under any circumstances take anyone seriously who finds their ideology or calling in life through a fukking documentary.

You're at that point one notch below someone intellectually who follows a monotheistic religion, because at least then it's under the vast vehicles in which one can gain different perspective and context.

This is just like every other "expose/the truth/what's really going on!" documentary made since the early 2000's, and I guarantee nothing actually groundbreaking or thought provoking to be gained from this edutainment horse shyt.

And no surprise, it's filled with has beens and an opportunists.
