Im keep hearing that he needs to do it for the fans...But could it be the haters want him to do it just for the sole reason to hate on him?....Its funny because all i hear that he lost his jumping ability and all he has is one dunk...why the pressure?....

If he wanted to he'd have done it by now, let the young dudes shine.

I still want to see James White win it at 30 years of age though :ld:

Didn't Wade say he'd give Lebron a mil for his charity if he did it? Or am I wrong?

He's just not creative enough and is scared about embarrassing himself.

No he needs to do it, because:

After saying at last year's event in Phoenix that he planned to dunk in the 2010 festivities in Dallas, James now says he's "50-50" about taking part.

James felt last year's contest was too "watered down" and his participation might revive the weekend's signature event.

"I'm like 50-50 right now," he said Wednesday night before a game against Phoenix. "I don't know if you can get it back to the 80s and like in '98 when Vince (Carter) was in it. It was more about the dunks and less about what was going on around the dunks. We'll see what happens."

So why has he changed his mind?

"I was excited," he said. "When I said it I was very excited about doing it. I was there at the event and you get caught up in it a little bit."

LeBron James' Dunk Contest Waffling: "I'm Like 50-50 Right Now"

And around every All-Star break afterwards, he "teases"

It would've been cool if he did it earlier in the career, because it would have put more excitement in the contest and would have established him more in the "image" of the L...the dunk contest used to be oen of the highlights of the season and winning was huge either for bragging rights as the "most spectacular" player (Dominique vs Jordan) or it served as a coming of age party (Kobe). Hell even Vince winning was HUGE. So I think it might have changed a lot in the perception the general public had of Lebron. Not that it really matters tho, TBH, but as a basketball fan it could have been big.

Did he not just say he is a in game dunker?.....He even said what the public thinks of him but its still a subject. When he said he would do maybe he got caught in the moment like humans do then thought nah....Plus would that pressure be worst than going back to play the cavs at tthe Q...that was pressure and he killed them...but the dunk contest is more?

I don't know why they want him to get in so much...he's really not that creative dunk wise.....he just jumps high as shyt and dunks high as shyt. There are much better dunkers out there stylistically and creatively.

I agree with thread starter...just one more thing they want to hate on him about if he doesn't win it...I can see it now "but but Kobe won 1...Jordan won 1!" ...lol

Flawed thread. If LeBron were to ever enter a dunk contest, he'd win it. It doesn't matter how good his dunks were either. Yeah, nikkas on here would probably hate on him, but unless another superstar was in the competition and showed out, LeBron is winning the fan vote running away. I could care less if he ever participates, but a lot of people miss the days of superstars being in it. :manny:
