Y'all weren't saying this when he was cookin' the Kawhi [2x DPOY] and the Spurs ["one of the greatest defenses of the modern era"] in the WCF. Which is why it's less Durant being a "scrub" and more the Warriors having an all-time GREAT defense.

:manny:

KD was bricking and playing hero ball all night. It's less about the defense. KD played too much hero ball.

He doesnt have a go to shot anymore like before his injury
for whatever reason ...
he seems to always want to drive and shoot floaters when he could post or do a step back

I havent seen that famous crossover at all in a ridiculous amount of games

he's too tall to be settling for floaters, he should be trying to get to or above the rim and draw fouls with his length

There's something called pace breh. Perhaps you've heard of it? If the game is being played at a fast tempo, you can't just automatically think x-team didn't play good defense because y-team scored over 100 points. It doesn't work like that.

Durant shot 32% on 10-31 shooting and OKC had a 98 ORTG in Game 6, and it was down to the Warriors' defense.

Bad games yes but no all time great defense is getting ran through 2 str8 games in a WCF :francis:
OKC has one of the most high-powered offenses OAT led by two players who're amongst the greatest scorers at their respective positions. I don't want to turn this thread into a era v. era debate, but they'd put up points against just about any great defense from the past in a series. It's also important to note that the Warriors haven't played at their best during this series either and have only turned it on defensively when they've had to this season and in the PS. Last season they were the first team to be ranked #1 in defense and play at the fastest pace in the league, in history too.

Just take another look at the last five minutes of G6 and you'll see how good it is.

Breh I could care less about era bc I dint watch 90's basketball so I'm not one them the 90's was better nikkas, so was the trail blazer this high power offense too when they were giving up 120 plus to muccoland and dame. Last year is last year and I won't deny they held it down defensively but this year especially in the playoffs they have not been a great defensive team mean less all time great and it's ok to admit it. And I'm sure your next reply will be but dame shot 30% and pace but that's my opinion :manny:

It's important to acknowledge that they're the same team from last season; relatively the same personnel and everybody is still of age where their defense hasn't dropped off. They've just been less focused and inconsistent throughout the season, (yet they still had one of the best defenses) and it's seeped through into the playoffs. When you play at the pace and shoot like the Warriors do, other teams feed off that, which is why the T'Blazers went on scoring runs like they did in that series. Especially when you're in shooting rhythm and the game's being played at a fast pace, it allows you to maintain that rhythm longer than if the game was of a slow tempo with a lot of stop start action. Again just look at what they did in the last five minutes of Game 6 on defense and that's the best reflection of their ability.

You don't win 67 games in a season (+ win a title) and then back it up by winning 73 games the following season if you don't have a great defense. It's simply not possible. Especially not in this day and age.

It had everything to do with defense. Iguodala straight locked him down. Plain and simple.

But he was also putting up a lot of dumb shots and layups that he didn't have to. Russel kept trying to draw fouls and the refs didn't kare. It's less about Defense. Both Russ and KD played too much hero ball and didn't get the other players involved down the stretch. There was only so much Klay could do when the whole team is scoring or using ball movement.
