not really. when they were freed in 1863 those with money moved north and midwest. detroit. chicago. manhattan. st louis. philly.
the ones who had no homes and no money couldnt move and in turn the government gave them shelter and killed them off.

mississippi used to be majority african american and when they were freed and migrated out, they became the minority and fukkery like this happened

i realize this. but when they were freed in mississippi, most in that state were african american. they either had their own land, or moved away with their money.
others were freed with nothing. no home. no money.
so they were hired by other african americans, europeans or put into camps by the government.
the reason why mississippi's majority went to minority because after a few years of being a free land, they taxed the land like whoa and most couldnt afford it and lost their land.
then the migration went into full swing.
