Where’s the c00n vibes yall getting from him
He’s never spoke down on black people and has said Black Lives Matter before in a video
And also said he’s proud to Black just as he is proud to be Samoan in a tweet before
I’m I missing something
It's because he was so busy working and Rock spent more time around the Samoan kinfolk. Pops is from Nova Scotia and left as a teen, so Rock likely didn't spend as much time around the Black side of his fam.
Then throw in the fact wrestling has a very conservative lean. How many wrestlers are loud & proud liberals? They mostly stay neutral or got a conservative, "bootstraps", support the troops vibe. Not particularly pro-Black or Black church or Black culturally.
Then.....Rock doesn't exactly code as Black. If we knew nothing about him, I wouldn't even know what racial category to place him in. Codes as ethnic or multiracial, maybe Polynesian but ain't no one thinking Black/African the first time they see him. Think he's proud of his heritage....it's just he's treated like something different than a Black man.
It's why he leans into the Samoan more than the Black....and he was with his mom and Samoan grandma a lot more. He acknowledges his heritage but I never thought he really identified as Black.
