I got concepts of a plan.
Most of these committees clear it with the honoree first before announcing them as recipients. You wouldn’t honor somebody you know wouldn’t come to your event. You would just honor somebody different.
I’d bet $100, somebody on the committee got an email from The Rock’s people asking them to consider him and provided “incentives” to get it done.
I’m not trying to discredit all of these types of events, but why give Dwayne an award like this? There are probably dozens of actors you haven’t awarded yet and you choose the Rock?
That shyt is bought and paid for.
I remember on some award show Tamia was honored. I love Tamia but she has maybe 3 commercial hits. Albums didn’t go platinum. Why honor her? Them committees be doing the most.
