The biggest factor IMO is that he never developed his offensive arsenal, the league changed, so his game plateaued badly. You throw in a few injuries and trades and you’ve fallen down a deep rabbit hole. His attitude/ego didn’t help matters.

Because of his athleticism and defense, he can still be a great 3rd option or high-end role player for a contender. If guys like Capella, JaVale, and Tristan can excel in that role of physical presence/rebounder/occasional pick and roll alley-ooper...there’s no reason somebody with Dwight’s talent can’t.

Dwight Howard was a great player and has had a great career. He was a beast in Orlando.
He allowed the media to destroy his legacy. Those guys at the Ringer stay taking shots at him.

Best Player on a NBA Finals team

Capela is Cody Zeller with long arms on a team with a real offense

Comparing Tristan and Javale is laughable.

And if people want to hate on Dwight for certain shyt I want the same energy for Whiteside.

All dude had to do was play that last season in Orlando then sign with Houston in free agency
The fans in Orlando woulda been mad but his popularity wouldn't have took the hit that it did
Still a HOF career gonna have over 20,000 points when its over
