So I got some blood work done before and it mentions egfr
It says egfr and egfr African American
They both have different numbers
I know that it has to do with the kidneys but I don't understand what the numbers mean
Is the first number for white people and the 2nd number if ur black?
Does everybody get a egfr African American?

I don't know anything about the test. I simply googled an answer. (First of all they don't mean African American but people of African descent or blacks.)

According to National Kidney Foundation:
The MDRD study equation includes a term for the African American race to account for the fact that African Americans have a higher GFR than Caucasians (and other races included in the MDRD study) at the same level of serum creatinine. This is due to higher average muscle mass and creatinine generation rate in African Americans. [...] For African Americans, multiply the GFR estimate for Caucasians by 1.21.

I googled "why is african american egfr different" and got a link to download a pdf.

What theory c00n? So the average Carribean or African women is smaller in general than a white or Asian women?? It's been proven blacks usually have a more muscle mass compared to other races. When calculating a person's renal function which I do daily since I'm a pharmacist there is a different number if the person is black because "creatinine" is a product of muscle break down and is cleared through the kidneys. The numbers are different for blacks.

I said too many American women are overweight what else you want me too say. Plus why the fukk you care about any black women since your c00n ass ain't checking for them.

Good question

African ancestry may have an effect on progression of kidney disease, so there's an African eGFR value that tries to account for genetic differences

What matters more than the absolute value is whether your numbers are within normal limits
