The whole "Anybody can be Black Panther - it's just a mantle" thing is going too far.

You have to firmly establish T'Challa as THAT guy before you start remixing who has the title/mantle. I know Chadwick passing away messed things up for them, but that's why you recast.

You don't hamstring the entire franchise to one actor, no matter how much we loved him.

Outside of that, super excited for the game.

Yes, it’s peter parker, peter j Parker, peter porker, penny parker, or some variation of peter and his origin story. Miles Morales is a seen as thte most divergent and an error in the unvierse.

they established that there are canon events that lead to becoming spider-man, and they usually all stem from the same tragic event like losing a loved one, just like peters story.

what this game is doing is more of a bat-family idea. It’s like T’challa exist but you can play as his friends wearing the black panther suit if you want.

Miles Morales works because its firmly established that Peter Parker is spider-man first and foremost. We have decades of media beyond just the source material (comics) that established that, allowing Miles Morales to be a fun switch up rather than a replacement.

T'Challa don't have the history yet for it to work. We didn't even get a trilogy or a proper sequel. The second movie, as well done as it was IMO, was more a funeral/interlude than it was a real sequel that moved T'Challa forward for obvious reasons.

the death of T’challa is like a big part of who this character is now in pop culture because its so tied to Chadwick‘s death now. Imagine if they killed superman and now everyone is superman because of christopher reeves death

Thats because the original black panther movie made 1.3 billion dollars in the box office. We’ve already seen that marvel has had no clue how to properly expand after End Game and they have been clumsy with the Black Panther property.

It's like when the narrative against a Black Panther movie was "Wakanda would be too hard to depict on the big screen" per some mcu exec back in the early 2010s; i'm sure muthafukkas believed that too (despite Asgard already being depicted). Those were dark times when Marvel tried to replace the X-men with the Inhumans. And didn’t allow any X-men or Fantastic Four characters into MvC:Infinite.
