Yea, rap videos now all want that "organic" (damn I hate that industry word) feel to em...

they want that low budget look, like they filmed it off a phone...smoke all around, few chicks, and them looking like a version of Tony Montana...either that or in some dark room or basement and it looks like a "behind the scenes" type of video...

Videos are wack now...don't even fit with the actual lyrics or name of the song

Real talk if you are in your mid-20s to early 30s like me this is our era of music. Late high school and early college....and it was trash.

This era produced the corniest music second only to ringtone rap. This is the Pass The Couvesier "everybody needs a club banger or song for the ladies" era. The Nelly Era. The throwbacks and durags era.

Other than Cam, Clipse and 50 nothing good came from this era of music. This is when mixtapes officially became better than retail albums. We should be ashamed.

I remember that clear as day. Dudes with the excess gun talk and the cliche responses in interviews

"At the end of the day"

"I got a song for the ladies, for the streets, and for the clubs"

"I be in them streets all day, every day!"

Plus every dude had some crazy back story that even comic books can't follow. Talking about waging war against cops and having 7 felonies before you 30 :mjpls:

The early 00s was the most ignorant of times, and the most memorable of times.

exactly...watching MTV or BET (when they actually SHOWED videos) waiting with baited breath for your video to come on...

Videos had a message, be it funny or serious, and it made sense with the song...now a days everybody on this fake "artsy" kick...everybody wanna be deep as Basquiat or Dali...

True...but can't lie, when I saw that "Started from the Bottom" video...

I was definitely a little jelly at Drake and his boys in that villa...I honestly said to myself (then my girl when I showed her) "I would LOVE to be THERE right now"

Def looked at that shyt like, "that nikka is living the life" :yeshrug:
