Born and raised in the midwest (Michigan) and I've never heard of that in my 46 years of life. Not even white folks I worked or went to school with ever mentioned something like that. That sounds like some new aged I seen it on the internet garbage that gets posted on social media. "Oooh everybody is so creative"

Both my parents are from the south and my mom (Mississippi) made catfish and spaghetti from time to time. I always assumed it was a southern thing but it may just be certain areas.

Because if you know how to make really good spaghetti it stands alone as its own meal. You just serve it with salad and breadsticks

If you can fry catfish, but don't know how to make good sides like mac n cheese or beans and rice or greens. Its easier to make basic spaghetti.
