Nah. I live in the south. Black folk eat a ton of rice with every dish down here. If you eat too much you'll get fat. Period.
It's hard to eat a lot of rice to the point it makes you fat, it fills you up fast. If eaten with vegetables, and proteins, you would be too full to eat a lot due to those foods lowering the glycemic index. That's probably a factor in this study.
What makes people fat is lack of movement, and eating a lot of protein, you won't hear that because the meat industry controls this country. You cut the protein, you cut the weight.
