Global indie content studio Critical Content is producing a documentary about Eazy-E, the former NWA frontman and the “Godfather of Gangsta Rap”.
Teaming with Eazy-E’s daughter, Ebie Wright, his long-time girlfriend Tracy Jernagin and DJ Skee’s 1212 Media Group, the project will explore alternative theories surrounding the death of the seminal musician 23 years after his passing.
The as-yet titled documentary will place the life and career of the rising rap star under the microscope while examining his unresolved disputes, hostile adversaries and the people who would profit over Eazy’s untimely death.
On March 17, 1995, the NWA frontman Eazy-E, born Eric Lynn Wright, 30, announced to the world he had AIDS. One month after his diagnosis on March 26, 1995, the rapper died from complications from the infection. Many, including his daughter, have questioned his diagnosis and rapid deterioration.
Wright was born in Compton, California and after dropping out of high school founded Ruthless Records and later formed NWA with Dr. Dre, Ice Cube, Arabian Prince, DJ Yella and MC Ren. The group released their highly influential debut album Straight Outta Compton in 1988. The group disbanded after releasing two more albums before disbanding shortly after Eazy released Dr. Dre from his contract.
