Ohio State defensive lineman, former Elyria star, Tracy Sprinkle suspended after drug arrest

COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Ohio State redshirt freshman defensive lineman Tracy Sprinkle was arrested Friday night in connection with a bar fight on the south side of Lorain, according to Lorain police. A formal police report has not yet been finalized, but an officer confirmed Sprinkle was charged with drug possession and a failure to disperse.

According to ElevenWarriors.com, which first reported the news of Sprinkle's arrest, he has been indefinitely suspended from the football team. That would fall in line with how Urban Meyer has handled arrests in the past, offering an indefinite suspension until more facts come in and he can decide on the final fate of the player.

But Sprinkle, an Elyria High School grad, obviously has other concerns besides his football status with this news.

The 2012 Plain Dealer Defensive Player of the Year, Sprinkle redshirted during his first season at Ohio State in 2013. He was expected to contend for playing time as a backup lineman this fall.

The Chronicle-Telegram first reported on the specifics of Sprinkle's arrest.
