Showtime's Emmy-award winning show 'Inside the NFL' -- cable's longest running series -- is getting a facelift for the 2014 NFL season, as well as a new night.

A completely different cast will be featured in 2014: former Ravens safety and Super Bowlchampion Ed Reed, current Bears wide receiver Brandon Marshall and CBS Sports' Boomer Esiason join Phil Simms as analysts, with Greg Gumbel stepping in as the new host, Showtime Sports GM Stephen Espinoza and CBS Sports Chairman Sean McManus announced Thursday.

"The additions of Greg as host, along with new analysts Boomer, Ed and Brandon, combined with Phil, follow along in the tradition of excellence that fans have come to expect from this show," McManus said. "With Ed just coming off the playing field and Brandon still on it, this show truly brings a unique perspective that is unseen on any other show."

Inside the NFL also switches to Tuesday nights (from Wednesday) with a premiere set for September 2, 2014 at 9 p.m. ET/PT. Inside the NFL will air every Tuesday through February 4, 2015 with a re-air on NFL Network each Wednesday at 9 p.m. ET.

“We've assembled, perhaps, the most dynamic cast in this show's long history,” said Espinoza. “Of course, the program will continue to deliver breath-taking highlights and exclusive features. And now, we are coupling the respected and accomplished personalities of Simms, Boomer and Greg Gumbel with a defensive perspective from Ed Reed and Brandon Marshall's perspective directly from the field.

"We are as excited as ever for the new season."

I'm guessing it's moving to Tuesdays now to accommodate Marshall & to not miss a step after the Monday game...which is interesting having a current player on weekly btw. Will he be in studio? Will he just be a contributor?

only good thing about having boomer on the show is that you can tell simms is really getting under his skin with his comments

i saw his soul die a lil bit when simms called him a mediocre qb :lolbron:

but i can't stand either of them.

marshall and reed deserve better than simms being an old crotchety white guy and boomer trying to be down giving awkward ass fist bumps

Marshall is the poster boy for how people can learn and move on from fukk ups, a shining example of why the NFL needs to stop scrutinizing everything about younger players and help them grow. Anyway, this will be a good look, I love hearing Marshall in interviews or as a guest

The I in Team
That segment they had on domestic violence was dope as hell. I was waiting for the audience to start clapping after Brandon spoke, then I realized there is no audience! :krs:

turns out Boomer Esiason on inside the NFL is not so bad after all...I enjoyed his insight from a qb perspective...it's cool how they have an active player like Brandon Marshall involved as well
